By Anita Karen Gray: Something is eating my marigolds. Could it be rabbits? They are stripped down right to the stems.
Answer By The Flower Expert:It is a fact that rabbits love to eat tender marigolds, but not mature marigolds. The animals eating your marigolds might be slugs. Please, if possible, do send in the photograph, so as to identify the animal.
By Joan: Do potted daffodils need to be dug out of the pot and stored till fall planting? OR may I just leave them in the pot in a cool dark shed?
Answer By The Flower Expert: Potted daffodils can be handled in 2 methods. They can be planted in the garden in the spring, but they take 2 to 3 years for bulbs to come back after being forced indoors.
Another method is to store them over summer and plant them in the fall. To store them remove spent flowers to prevent forming seeds, and let the foliage die back naturally. Keep the soil moist, but not wet. Then, when the foliage dies, quit watering and let soil dry out. You can store them in a cool dry place and plant them in fall.
