By Guest:My bulb collection is getting to be too much work for me. I try to share with friends and neighbors, but they are not interested in the dormant stage some plants require. I live in the North Carolina foothills zone 7. We rarely have temperatures as low as zone chart indicates. I have a brick front porch, somewhat protected by roof overhang. The sun sets on this side of house and receives full afternoon sun. The brick absorbs some warmth. I have a foundation bed planted along here. Should I chance leaving calla lilies and Hymenocallis narcissiflora in the ground over the winter, if well mulched?

Even flowers without scent produce and spread their pollen which can cause allergies.The flowers without scent are a difficult one. Instead of flowers, you can have nonscented foliage of ferns, horsetail, cattails.
