Mon, 16 Aug 2010 05:00:00 GMT

By Kristeen: I'm looking for a flower or plant, named jacqueline, jackie or blonde, suitable for a memorial gift, to be planted in a garden that little children will play in. Any ideas?

Answer By The Flower Expert: It can be Jacqueline Postil Daphne plant. Its an intensely fragrant flowered plant with flowers which are pink on the outside and white within. It grows on any fertile free draining soil. The conditions should be not too dry, in sun or light shade. It can be gifted and placed smaller garden because it is slow growing and flowers during the late winter when most other plants are dormant. You can plant near a door or garden gate. This plant hate transplanting and should only be pruned when absolutely necessary.

Gladiolas Drying Out From The Bottom Then Upward

Mon, 16 Aug 2010 05:00:00 GMT

By Veronica: I planted gladiolas and now the flower is drying out from the bottom then upward. Why is that happening and what can I do?

Answer By The Flower Expert: There may be one of two problems for drying up of glad flowers. Probably not enough water when the flowers spikes were forming. Since Glads require 1 inch of water per week and soil should be soaked 6-8 inches at watering. May be there is a presence of thrips. Gladiolus thrips is a major problems that attacks the foliage and flowers. We can also see flower buds getting aborted, distorted or shriveled up. Give some water to the plant and spray an insecticide on the plant.
