By Berni: I have what I would say is a healthy Gardenia plant. I have bought this type of plant before and not had a problem. This time it has not bloom all Summer, and there have been many buds. What could be the problem?
Answer By The Flower Expert: In Gardenias, if there is a water stress in a heavily budded plant, many buds will fall before opening. (water regularly but make sure the soil is not wet)We should realise that when the plant is in bud, there should not be large variations in soil moisture. One can use mulch and avoid cultivation around the base of the plant to help maintain adequate moisture.
