Cherry Plant

Wed, 05 May 2010 05:00:00 GMT

By Froilan Estrella: I have a question about my cherry tree. First of all, it's a blossoming tree, not a fruit bearing tree. Now, my question is it normal for such a tree to have a trunk that is cracking? It looks like it's healthy otherwise but I did notice earwigs inside the crack so I don't know whether to be concerned or not. Please help! I don't want to lose this beautiful tree.

Answer By The Flower Expert: There is no need to worry about, as the tree horizontally cracks and usually have earwigs.

Earwigs definitely destroy the cherry plant.

Begonia

Tue, 04 May 2010 05:00:00 GMT

By Geraldine Marquardt: I have purchased a beautiful begonia, however I'm not sure of the type of care it requires. I live in Ontario canada and my home faces south. Does this flower require a lot of light, water. I was told that there is also a rest period for this flower. How do I know when this is happening? Yellow leaves or what? Please help me keep this beautiful plant

Answer By The Flower Expert: There is a dormant period or rest period in winter.

They like warmth and humidity, but too much moisture will cause rotting

Some varieties need a bit of more sunlight than others.

Begonias can be put indoors but need good light conditions.

There are 3 types of begonias.

Fibrous rooted begonias, Rhizomatous begonias, Tuberous begonias which are are Winter-blooming.

These tuberous begonias like cool temperatures and moist, but not wet soil.

Dying up of foliage is the indication for rest period in begonias.
